Kenya Mission Report

August 15, 2020

In January 2020, WeRemnant took a team of six to Bungoma, Kenya, to show the LOVE of JESUS CHRIST to HIS children. It was a hard but glorious trip. We took three planes and a two-hour drive to get to the villages we serve in. On the way from the airport, our rented truck broke down. We were stuck on the side of the road for more than two
hours! This is the stuff missionary stories are made from.

This morning, as I spend time before the LORD in devotion, HE reminded me of why we went. Why we left the comfort of our western lifestyles, air conditioning, smooth paved roads, and cheeseburgers, to brave the heat, roller coaster style streets, and foreign foods. Why would a normal human take vacation days from work to do that?

Simple. Because we are Family.

We stopped being normal when we fell in love with JESUS and chose to prove our love with obedience – because we LOVE JESUS, and JESUS LOVE looks like obedience.

When JESUS was asked, “Who is YOUR family, because you mother and brothers are asking after YOU,” HE simply pointed at HIS disciples (you and me) and said, “Only those who DO the will of my FATHER are my family.”

In January, obedience looked like:

Matthew 12: 46-50 (NIV)
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

2 Corinthians 9: 9-15 (NIV)
9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is
also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
13 Because of the service by
which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his
indescribable gift!
